Number Jungle
Counting, number names, more and fewer. Sang Kancil keeps losing count of the leaves.
Sang Kancil · Enggang · TupaiAndroid · Bahasa Melayu & English
A maths app for four-, five-, six- and seven-year-olds — built around the Malaysian Year 1 syllabus and the preschool years that lead into it. Every unit teaches, then practises, then plays. Every word is in both languages. Everything works with the aeroplane mode on.
The map
Not eight identical green circles. Each world has its own colour, its own emblem and its own cast — a mousedeer in the jungle, a kettle in the bakery, a paper train at the station.
Counting, number names, more and fewer. Sang Kancil keeps losing count of the leaves.
Sang Kancil · Enggang · TupaiAdding and taking away, built as one repeated step you can watch turn.
The gearbox · Cik KucingHalves and quarters, sliced off a tray of kuih lapis until the layers come out fair.
The onde twins · the kettleReal coins and notes. Sen counted up to a ringgit under a pasar awning.
Ayamas · Pak Tenuk · tabungMorning, noon, night; o'clock and half past, on a clock face a child can turn.
Keretapi Kertas · Sang KuraLonger, shorter, heavier, fuller — measured against a notched bamboo rule.
Gajah · Cik Semut · the beakerSquares, circles, patterns and symmetry — learnt off the geometry of a wau kite.
Robo Wau · CicakSorting, tallying and the very first bar chart a child ever draws.
Burung Timah · the signal lampEvery skill again, but as a job: settle each new family in fairly. Madu lives here.
MaduThe shape of a unit
Not one of these three is optional. A child who has only played a game has not learnt the idea; a child who has only drilled has not enjoyed it.
A guide walks the idea through, out loud, in the child's language. Nothing is marked. Nothing is timed. They can watch it again as many times as they like.
Tap, drag, order, build. Wrong answers are the interesting ones: each distractor encodes a real misconception, so the app can say what went wrong instead of just "try again".
The same skill, now with something at stake — a market stall to run, a train to catch, an enclosure to settle. Stickers are earned in the world they came from.
Four paths
The number range, the reading load, the size of a tap target and the length of a sitting all belong to the age path — not to the topic. Pick the age once; the whole app changes shape.
Counting objects one by one, matching a number to a quantity, sorting by one attribute. Big buttons, few words, a sitting that ends before attention does.
Counting on and back, first patterns, comparing two amounts and saying which is more — and why. Ten-frames arrive, and stay for good.
Adding and taking away within twenty, coins to a ringgit, o'clock, halves. Backward-mapped from the Year 1 standards so the first school term is a second visit, not a first.
Whole numbers, basic operations, fractions, money, time, measurement, space and data management — every verified Malaysian Year 1 standard, each unit carrying its own reference.
Independently written to the published Malaysian curriculum. Not endorsed by, affiliated with, or produced with the Ministry of Education; nothing in the app is an official PBD performance level.
Behind the PIN
Anything that costs money or leaves the app sits behind a four-digit PIN a child cannot guess their way past. Inside it, you get the plain truth about how the week actually went.
